Newspapers are an incredible resource when tracing your family tree as they reveal the daily lives of our ancestors. Local newspapers (like those found on Findmypast) include more than just announcements of births, marriages, and deaths.
To access these records, click 'search' and then select 'Newspapers and Periodicals' from the drop-down menu which will then take you to a new page and you can filter the Newspapers by year or by Country on the left-hand side.
Begin by searching for a name or keyword, and gradually include additional information (such as a location) to narrow your results. The filters on the left can easily refine and narrow your results by newspaper title, publication date, or region.
To see a full list of newspaper titles included, select "By Newspapers" from the filters on the left. Additional newspapers will be added to the collection over time.
Saving and printing newspapers
To save a newspaper page, hit the 'Download Page' button when viewing an article.
If you want to save just a snippet from the page, most devices have some handy snipping tools to help. You can use these tools to capture the part of the page you want to keep either directly from the image viewer online or from the page after you've downloaded it.
To print a newspaper page, hit the 'Print Page' button when viewing an article and follow the instructions based on the device you're using.
